Shaunna has spent the majority of her time working in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in variety of settings including accident & emergency clinics, working with a variety of sports teams and secondary school based clinics. She has spent 4 years working within the NZ secondary schools on the North Shore, managing a clinic focusing mainly on sports related injuries and prevention in the younger population. Shaunna has worked with Glenfield premier and reserve rugby teams, Birkenhead premier and reserve men’s soccer teams and the Takapuna Women’s rugby team. In March 2018 she was involved with the U14 New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championships (Ocean’s 18) and provided Physiotherapy support to athletes for Coast Physio.
She has experience undertaking gym-based rehabilitation programs post-surgery and return to work rehabilitation programs. She has completed specialised training in pain management (PGAP) and has a special interest in treating lower back pain/injuries, older adults and children. She has a strong belief in injury prevention and preventative injury management as well as having a holistic approach to Physiotherapy.
Shaunna has also spent some time working in an outpatient neurological clinic within a large health organisation in Auckland, where she was the sole physiotherapist. Her practice was focussed primarily on neurological rehabilitation for a variety of neurological conditions with patients ranging from adolescents to the older adult.
Shaunna has completed a variety of post graduate level training courses through AUT University, and through other external providers. In addition, she is qualified in the post graduate level course in Kinesio Taping Method. Shaunna undertook some Clinical Pilates training in 2017, which enables her to incorporate Pilates into her daily practice with both ACC and private clients. She plans to further her knowledge and develop her practice in women’s health in addition to completing a diploma in musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
In her spare time Shaunna enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She enjoys playing basketball, tramping and running.
